A Henderson County grand jury on Tuesday indicted 44-year-old Jeffrey Cobb Sr. on several offenses including the escape charge which kept him in the public eye for several weeks.
The Geneva resident was indicted for manufacturing Methamphetamine, two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, cultivation of Marijuana, five or more plants, trafficking in Marijuana between 8 ounces and 5 pounds, possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense), second-degree escape, second-degree criminal mischief and theft under $500.
Cobb captured the attention of law enforcement and the public on Sept. 9 when he was identified as having been involved in an alleged altercation with a woman.
While investigating that incident, authorities allegedly found Marijuana and Methamphetamine, a Meth lab in an outbuilding and a marijuana-growing operation in the attic of Cobb's residence on Kentucky 268.
Cobb was then arrested on Sept. 11. At that time, he was located beneath his bed in his residence and was placed in a cruiser. While handcuffed and behind a steel cage, Cobb was able to get his hands in front of him and kicked out the window of the cruiser door.
He escaped by running into a cornfield just east of the Henderson City-County Airport on Kentucky 136-West.
K-9 units from the Henderson and Evansville police departments were called in, and the city police and Kentucky State Police also assisted. Despite an additional search by aircraft, Cobb remained at large until he was captured in Webster County in early October.
Then on Oct. 23, someone posted a $93,800 full-cash bond, and Cobb was released from jail.
Less than 24-hours later, law enforcement were again searching for Cobb after he allegedly accused a neighbor of providing police with information, cursed him and then shoved the neighbor, the sheriff's office said.
Cobb turned himself in roughly two days later. In this incident, he faces charges of fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Court officials said that a charge of intimidating a witness was dismissed.
